Every morning I check CNN (and usually go straight to the Entertainment section - I'm a terrible American), and this was headline news:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/05/01/lennon.film.fight.ap/index.html
Apparently, Yoko Ono is claiming ownership of about 10 hours of raw footage of John Lennon in 1970, writing music, talking about drugs, drying his wife's hair, etc. BUT the guy she bought it from in 2002 allegedly also sold it to another company in 2000. This company wants to use the footage for a documentary to show to HS and college students (and they have had viewings at a college and some entertainment and media conferences). SO the question is who owns the copyright on the tapes? And even if Ono does, would the other company's use of it fall under fair use?
